Many of the introductory books written about R over the past decade are excessively long, and often do not provide the appropriate context supporting the technology's applicability. Many of these books are intimidating to a beginner. Brice believes the reader deserves a more structured, less cumbersome way to learn this compelling technology.
For example, one of the most common tasks conducted in R is connecting data to visualization. However, such tasks are either not covered in an introductory book on R or provide an incomplete presentation on the subject. Brice wrote an introductory book on the topic that takes an unorthodox approach to learning R. It fills the gaps left by other introductory books on this topic. He wrote a book that he would want to read if he were a beginner with a curious interest in R.
