Many would describe me as a septuagenarian and that’s true. I am a seventy-two-year-old mother of two, grandmother of two, and a retired RN. I live in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, with my daughter and her two sons, and my first fiction is about to be published. To say I am ecstatic would be understated. I am utterly overjoyed!

Reading has always been a passion of mine. I have been on many journeys in my life within the pages of a book and I have enjoyed several genres of books. Mainly, I have enjoyed classics, romances, historical romances, and crime fictions. My favorite author today is John Grisham. I collect his books.

That very day I started to think of a storyline and I jotted it down on a piece of paper. That’s when my characters started to come to life. Over time I would pick it up, write some, and put it down.

A few years ago, my daughter became a publisher. (She has her own story about how she became a publisher.) One day she told me to finish my book and she would publish it. I got busy. My book, “Winter’s Courage, is now published!

This is a story that exemplifies the strength of family love in the south during the 1960’s, when many changes were starting to occur throughout the country. The characters in this book are familiar to many who grew up in the south or who had the opportunity to visit relatives in the south. Most families had a strong matriarch who led the family, like Aunt Rose in this book. Most families had a father or uncle, like Cocos’ Uncle Willie Lin, who did not get it all right and did not get it all wrong. His love for his family always prevailed, and the family's love for him never failed.
